Joe Marion Franklin, Sr. of Waxahachie, Texas passed away on June 09, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday June 13, 2019 at 2:00PM at Driggers and Decker Family Funeral Home, 105 Vintage Drive Red Oak, Texas 75154, with the interment to follow at Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday June 12, 2019 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Driggers and Decker Family Funeral Home.

Joe was born on September 23, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Cecil and Eva Franklin. He married Sandra Faye Simons, also of Dallas, on February 09, 1957. They started their family in Dallas. Joe was an avid supporter of his kid’s activities in Pleasant Grove and was involved in many of the youth programs in the area. He was a member of the Bruton Conner Masonic Lodge. He was on the forefront of a privately-owned commercial trash removal in the City of Dallas, until his retirement. The Franklin Family moved to Red Oak, Texas where he continued to support his kids and grandkids in their activities. He also coached for the Red Oak Pee Wee Football, Baseball, and Soccer Associations. Joe was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan from the Cowboys Franchise inception. Joe and Sandra were season ticket holders until 2008, when he became physically unable to attend games any longer.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and his first grandson, Edward Roach, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra Franklin; children, Stephanie Roach and her husband, Edward Roach, Sr.; Venus Pertuset, Lisa Cook and her husband, James Cook, Jr. and Joe Franklin, Jr.; grandchildren, Jocelyn Roach, Monica Bajek and her husband, Brian, Clint Leatherwood and his wife, Kristina, Jerad Pertuset, Thomas Cook and his wife, Kellee, Holly Cook, Amber Franklin, Joe Franklin, III, Chris Franklin and Jason Franklin; great-grandchildren, Maraya Roach, Bryce Bajek, Kashton Bajek, Abbey Mansfield and Greer Cook and many other dear relatives and friends.
