Emilia "Memaw" Perez

September 13, 1949 ~ June 17, 2019 (age 69)

Emilia Perez, better known as “Memaw”, of Ferris, Texas passed away on June 17, 2019.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday June 22, 2019 at 10:00AM at the Fundamental Baptist Church, 209 W. Jefferson Street Palmer, Texas, 75152 with the interment to follow at Ferris Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday June 21 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Driggers and Decker Family Funeral Home, 105 Vintage Drive Red Oak, Texas 75154.

Emilia was born on September 13, 1949 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Louis Perez Najar and Romona Gonzales Perez. Emilia was known for her feisty personality and her sense of humor. With a diet coke in her hand, she never stopped going. Emilia was energetic and had the most positive attitude no matter how difficult life got.  In her free time, she enjoyed going fishing, listening to Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra and baking. She was famous for her Pistachio Cake and it was expected for her to bring it to every family event. Her favorite places to eat were McAlister’s and Panera Bread. Emilia was very particular about how she looked and her style, nothing was ever out of place. Like her style, her home was always impeccable. Her family often says how lucky they are to have had her in their lives. She was always there to help anyone in need, supported her family in all their endeavors and showered them with love and grace. Her loving and caring presence will be missed by all who knew her.

Emilia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bertha Hernandez, Mary Ann Perez and Estela Perez; and brothers, Eddie Perez, Louis Jr. Perez, and Johnny Perez.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Israel Reyes; daughters, Yvonne Rodriguez and her husband, Ricardo, Kathy Mohundro and her husband, Lynn, and Lori Perez and her husband, Dale; grandchildren, Ariel McDaniel and her husband, Clark, Tatianna Simpson and her husband, Tyler, Ricky Rodriguez, Ashley Jones and her husband, Josh, Ethan Mohundro, Emily Perez and her husband, Eddie and Xavier Alonzo; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Tydus, Ellis, Nala, Violet, Avery, Aidan, Madelyn, Maycie, Ava, and Atticus; sisters, Maria Louisia Calzada, Beatrice Perez Moffitt, Mary Lara Barrett; brothers, Jessie Perez and Geronimo Perez, and many other relatives and friends.
