Richard K. Brumley Jr. of Waxahachie, Texas passed away on March 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday. April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1537 Rogers Avenue Lancaster, Texas 75134, with a committal service at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Visitation will be on Monday, April 2 at Driggers and Decker Family Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Richard was born on January 25, 1938 in Palmer, Texas to Kennon and Mildred Brumley. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was assigned to the USS Yorktown, USS Oriskany and USS Kitty Hawk during his time with the Navy. Richard enjoyed listening to KEBC radio station, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music, and the Casey Kasum countdown. He enjoyed driving and taking the scenic route. Richard also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was the jokester of the family and could make anybody laugh. Richard had a sweet tooth, he loved anything chocolate, cakes and even his favorite marshmallow cookies. He also appreciated his senior discounts whenever he could get them. He adored his family and his family adored him. He will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kennon Brumley Sr. and Mildred Brumley.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jean Brumley; son, Page Brumley; daughters, Theresa Johnson and her husband, Mark, Kim Brumley, Karen Graham and her husband, Terry; grandchildren, Christopher Johnson and his wife, Sigourney, Courtney Johnson, Jacob Johnson and his fiancé, Destiny Park, Caleb Brumley, Elizabeth Brumley, Hailey Brumley, Lauren Kadlubar and wife, Vanessa; sisters, Shirley Hamm, Lepha Oates and her husband, Billy, D’Lynn Davis and her husband, Greg; brother, Harry Brumley; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.


Pallbearers for Mr. Brumley: Christopher Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Terry Graham, Greg Davis, Philip Davis, and Mark Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers for Mr. Brumley: Billy Oates, Scott Oates, Todd Hamm, Tim Oates, and Caleb Brumley.


In lieu of flowers, the Brumley Family request that donations be made to

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
